Benefits of Adding Audio Responses to FAQ Pages in 2020

FAQ Audio Responses
Do you have FAQs for your products and services on your website? Building out extensive FAQ pages on your website has almost become a necessity for your business since Google and the major search engines, as well as voice assistants and smart speakers, rely on your website content to provide the answers to the world’s many questions.

So how can you build out your FAQs for 2020 and be better than your competition?

Record audio FAQs to build out your website content in 2020
Have you dabbled in podcasting or audio content? Whether you’re a seasoned audio pro or have yet to work in the audio medium, recording audio answers to your business’s FAQs is quick and easy. By doing a quick voice recording to answer your FAQs, you are offering users another channel to learn more about your company and you as a person. Assuming you don’t have a creepy Vincent Price voice, this should also increase your online credibility by letting potential customers hear your voice and energy as you answer the top questions you hear from customers on a daily basis about your products and services.

How to record audio FAQs
Lucky for you, recording these quick audio snippets doesn’t require special equipment. If you have a phone, you can make a recording of your voice and post the audio to your FAQ page. Either write out your FAQ script and read it verbatim, or have someone ask you a list of your customers’ most asked questions and answer them in your own words. Either way is fine. Just do what works best for you and your comfort level.

Step by step
  1. Record the audio and save as MP3 file. You can simply use the voice recorder on your phone.
  2. Save in Google Drive.
  3. Grab the Google file link and add it to the iFrame code listed below. Just swap out the bold section with your file link.
    • <iframe frameborder="0"width="400" height="200"src="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1234xyz/preview"></iframe>
  4. Add the code to your FAQ page HTML. *Remember to update the size of the iFrame depending on your site layout.
  5. Add a transcript of your audio to the page. Providing multiple ways to consume your content will only help with engagement.
  6. Bonus: remember to add the FAQ schema markup to your page to showcase the FAQs directly on Google search.
Additional Voice Search Info
If you’re not familiar with voice search, now is the time to get familiar. We are quickly moving towards a voice-based search world, mainly because humans are lazy. Why not spend 5 second talking into your phone or home device to ask a question instead of spending 20 to 30 seconds typing in the same question, fixing autocorrect errors or misspelled words, and then clicking submit for the same search that you could’ve gotten in three or four seconds? Build out as much voice-based content as you can to add to your voice library. And build out as many FAQs as you can to answer the world’s questions regarding your business, products or services. This will make Google and your site visitors happy.
